Paulina Gretzky is a mom! The 25-year-old model and daughter of NHL all-time great Wayne Gretzky welcomed her first child with fiance, Dustin Johnson.
"Paulina and I are happy to announce the arrival of our baby boy, who was born in Los Angeles on Monday morning," Johnson said in a statement.
"Both Paulina and the baby are healthy, resting comfortably and in great spirits."
Dustin Johnson added, "We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received and plan to release further details in the coming days!"
Shortly before Paulina got pregnant, Dustin announced he was taking time away from the PGA Tour in order to "seek professional help for personal challenges."
Johnson, 30, is widely regarded as one of the most talented pro golfers around, but one who has also succumbed to personal problems over the years.
The PGA Tour does not release results of drug tests or even if it has suspended one of its members, but it is widely believed Johnson failed one.
Voluntary or not, "I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion," he says of his six-month leave.
in a statement, he concluded by "respectfully asking my fans, well-wishers and the media for privacy as I embark upon the mission of self improvement."
Certainly, knowing he would be a father for the first time was a sobering experience, and he seemed content to stay close to home with Paulina Gretzky.
Johnson says he's enjoying a “really simple” life with his family of late.
“That’s what I’ve been working on, really simplifying everything,” he told Golf (dot) com. “Her being pregnant makes it that much more easy to simplify things.”
Here's hoping he keeps that attitude up and returns to the sport better than ever this year. Congratulations to the happy couple on their baby news!
