Nina Dobrev broke up with Ian Somerhalder back in May of 2013.
But the split has been back in the news of late for two reasons:
- Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries, with many believing her departure is related to the awkwardness of working with her ex.
- Somerhalder just married Nikki Reed.
As a result, Dobrev spoke to E! News this week and sought to finally clear up all chatter regarding her status with Somerhalder.
In short: everything is all good, Dobrev says!
“We didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship," Dobrev says. "I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him.
"And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
That's far too clean and tidy and mature, though.

What about Somerhalder's wedding in Santa Monica to Reed? Which was attended by your Vampire Diaries co-stars? SPILL!
"I thought it was beautiful," she says, adding in far too healthy of a manner:
"They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it's not with us.
"But of course, we're on a teen drama show, everyone's going to look for drama. If there's no drama, there's nothing to write about. I just ignore it."
Man. It's a good thing most celebrity break-ups are not this amicable. We'd be out of a job!
Dobrev, meanwhile, will exit the show that made her famous following The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 22 on Thursday night.
We'll miss her terribly.
