Sources say Teresa Giudice is finally beginning to assimilate to prison life.

Teresa's family visited her  over the weekend, she's begun her job assignment in the prison laundry, and she's reportedly doing her best to keep her head down and serve her time without incident. That may prove easier said than done, however...

Teresa Giudice with Her Book

A source tells Radar Online that Teresa has taken to apologizing to prison staff for the times when her celebrity status threatens the strictly regimented routine at Danbury Correctional.

Guards and other staff have reportedly treated Teresa just like any other inmate. The inmates themselves, however, are downright star struck:

"Teresa has tried to keep a low profile, and has been keeping to herself," says one source. "The times when Teresa does interact with staff or inmates, she is constantly apologizing because of the disruption her arrival has caused."

"With visiting hours approaching [last] weekend, the inmates had been lectured about not allowing their family or friends to take pictures of Teresa if she is in the communal area at the same time."

"Teresa knows that her being at the prison has made [the staff's] jobs more difficult because of all the attention. There is nothing Teresa can do about that, and just wants to be treated like all the others."

Sources say Teresa often hides from her cellmates in the prison chapel, but they also report that she's beginning to slowly come out of her shell:

"Bonding with several other prisoners who also have young children has really helped Teresa cope," says the insider. "She can't believe some of the women have been there 5 years or longer, and realizes how lucky she is to only be serving 15 months."

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey online at TV Fanatic to see Teresa in far less humble times.
