Hector "Macho" Camacho, a living legend in the boxing community, was shot during an altercation in Bayoman, Puerto Rico tonight.
The 50-year old is in critical condition.
Camacho was the passenger in a Ford Mustang, according to police reports, when a second vehicle pulled up alongside it and fired multiple shots. The driver of Camacho's car was killed in the attack.
Camacho was hit in the neck and face and taken to San Pablo Hospital.
The athlete had a career record of 79-6-3, going up against everyone from Ray Mancini to Oscar De La Hoya over the years.
“My heart and prayers go out to him and his family,” De La Hoya said. “I really do hope he makes it out OK.”
