Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Bongiovi will not face criminal charges after her alleged heroin overdose at Hamilton College this week.
The Oneida County (N.Y.) District Attorney's Office says it is dismissing all criminal charges against the rock legend's 19-year-old daughter.
The 21-year-old male student involved with Stephanie Bongiovi's overdose is also in the clear - legally, at least. Jon may have some words for him ...
Stephanie was arrested after being treated by emergency medical personnel following the alleged overdose in her dorm room on Wednesday.
Police said afterward that a drug task force found small quantities of heroin in the Dunham Hall room, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Stephanie Bongiovi was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
The 21-year-old guy also charged with drug possession.
The D.A. says the charges were dropped, however, because of a New York State law that specifically prohibits prosecution of people experiencing a drug overdose.
The people who help them seek medical care are also exempt from prosecution; the justification being that more lives will probably be saved this way.
Here's wishing Stephanie a speedy recovery, and hoping she gets the help she needs.
