Michael Arndt has been selected for one of the most sought after jobs in Hollywood at the moment: he will pen the screenplay for Star Wars Episode VII.
The decision has been confirmed by StarsWars.com, which posted a statement last night announcing the hiring of Arndt.
He won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for writing Little Miss Sunshine in 2006 and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing Toy Story 3 four years later.
The movie world remains in an uproar, of course, after George Lucas sold his company to Disney (for a cool $4 billion) and Disney then announced plans to continue the Stars Wars franchise.
Since then, we know Harrison Ford has expressed interest in returning as Han Solo, while Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher met with Lucas in August to discuss Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.
