Blake Shelton's acceptance speech after winning Song of the Year honors made his co-winner and wife, Miranda Lambert, cry at the CMA Awards Thursday.
Blake and Miranda co-wrote her song "Over You," and when he reflected on the emotions behind the track, she couldn't hold back the tears on stage:
"I lost my brother in a car wreck when I was 14," said Blake, one of the big CMA Awards winners. "When I decided I wanted to be a country singer, my dad always told me, ‘Son, you should write a song about your brother.’"
Shelton also lost his dad earlier this year, but he was clearly with him last night.
"It's so amazing to be, that even now, after he's gone, he's still right," he added.
Lambert, who wed Shelton in May 2011, was visibly moved when she spoke.
"Thank you, Blake, for allowing me to sing this beautiful song and write it with you," Miranda said, clearly choked up. "It’s really emotional. We love y’all."
Sweetest couple ever?
