Pablo Sandoval, the San Francisco Giants third baseman and a 2011 All-Star, is under investigation for sexual assault.
Santa Cruz County Deputy Sheriff April Skalland said yesterday that "no charges have been filed" and Sandovol "was not arrested," but he and his attorney did meet with authorities following an incident late Friday night regarding the ball player and a woman.
Sandoval was a guest last week at Seascape Beach Resort in Monterey Bay and had what his lawyer, Eric Geffon, claims in a statement was a "consensual personal relationship of a sexual nature" and "cooperated with the Sheriff's Department" in regard to allegations made against him.
No other details regarding the accusations have been made available at this time.
Sandoval has been on the Disabled List since May 4 with a broken hand and was batting .316 at the time of the injury.
