Lady Gaga is launching the Born This Way Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to youth empowerment and addressing issues like self esteem and bullying.
The singer's new organization will be driven by mentoring and career development of at-risk youth, and comprises a partnership with several big donors.
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment and Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard are joining Gaga.
"Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others," says the star.
Long an advocate for those suffering "in the face of bullying and abandonment," Lady Gaga is now putting her star status to even more effective use.
The Grammy winner will be joined by her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, in leading and directing the foundation, which is scheduled to launch in 2012.
