Sunday, the 92-year-old made his 1,097th and last appearance on 60 Minutes. “I wish I could do this forever,” he said, admitting he's dreaded his retirement.
The long-running CBS news program, which has featured Andy Rooney since its 1978 debut, also conducted a long interview with the writer/commentator.
Poignantly, but with his vintage curmudgeonly humor, he closed by thanking his fans. However, “If you do see me in a restaurant, please, just let me eat my dinner.”
