Police in Florida say a Fort Lauderdale man was hospitalized after he went streaking in an attempt avoid a group of imaginary pursuers over the weekend.
Perhaps not surprisingly, he is said to have been high on a street drug called "flakka." Check out the insane video of his desperate bid to flee ... something:
Matthew Kenney, 35, was arrested after he was seen hauling a-- down a city street wearing only sneakers, which quickly got the attention of law enforcement.
Video showed him bobbing and weaving around police cruisers.
"It appeared to me that he was playing with them," Jesse Grace, who shot the footage, recalled later. "Like he was trying to get them to follow him."
Whatever he was doing, Kenney told police (after he was finally contained) that he was being aggressively pursued by people who had stolen his clothes.
He reportedly told officers that he was actually trying to get hit by a car, "because if I got hit by a car they would stop chasing me." Always a solid plan.
Kenney felt this was a desperate situation, saying he would "rather die than be caught" by his shadowy pursuers, according to local media reports.
He was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, and later told police that he'd smoked "flakka" right before his streaking episode took place.
Flakka is a street drug with an amphetamine-like ingredient that causes paranoia and the perception of super-human strength, according to the Internet.
It's been compared to bath salts - also familiar to area residents from the Miami Zombie Apocalypse of 2012 - and has been on the rise as of late.
Doctors at Broward Health Medical Center say that what makes this particular narcotic so troubling is that no one can be sure exactly what's in it.
The drug has been implicated in several disturbing incidents in South Florida this year, including a naked gunman on a rooftop yelling that someone was trying to kill him.
A man trying to kick in a glass door at the Fort Lauderdale police station because he thought he was being chased by a mob was also high on flakka.
Finally, another man impaled himself when he attempted to scale a security fence at the Fort Lauderdale station because he was trying to escape murderers.
Seems like a familiar theme here ... and that maybe these obviously troubled Florida men should go purchase some golden tickets to heaven instead.
