Last month, Giuliana Rancic made a comment about Zendaya's hair that sparked outrage from fans of Fashion Police, and subsequently angered millions of others, as the wildfire of controversy spread across the Internet.

Zendaya accepted Rancic's apology in the most gracious fashion imaginable, and the whole thing should have been over and done with.

But then a strange thing happened - the Fashion Police cast began tearing itself apart with in-fighting and finger-pointing that turned a molehill of a controversy into a mountain of a scandal.

Things got so bad that co-host Kelly Osbourne quit Fashion Police, after publicly trash-talking Rancic, and the show itself.

It's been rumored that producers were so pissed about Osbourne's comments that they allowed her to make a graceful exit, rather than publicly firing her.

Kathy Griffin apparently didn't learn a whole lot from Osbourne's situation, because yesterday, she chose to become the latest Fashion Police host to stick her overpriced stiletto right in her mouth and throw her co-star under the bus.

Asked about Rancic's remark that Zendaya's dreads "smell like weed," Griffin replied, "I wouldn't have made the joke in the first place. Some dude wrote it for her.

"Don't have anyone write jokes or even suggest jokes for you on Fashion Police. You have enough great insider gossip from being on the red carpet."

It's a BS response for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that many think Griffin made the joke first. It's also worth noting that Griffin likely would've vehemently defended her friend and mentor Joan Rivers for making the exact same joke.

Oh, and there's also the fact that blaming the writers is one of the oldest, cheapest and dirtiest tricks in television.

Meanwhile, despite all the controversy, Fashion Police is still scheduled to return to the E! network on March 30, and there's been stiff competition to fill Osbourne's vacant seat.

Khloe Kardashian was considered an early front-runner, but Amber Rose and Chrissy Teigen are also reportedly being considered for the spot.

Frankly, we think those three should just distance themselves from Ms. Rivers' sadly sullied franchise and start their own show.
