As you've no doubt heard by now, Bruce Jenner's sex change has been confirmed, and the former Olympian is coming out in style.
The E! network has reportedly already begun production on a reality show about Bruce's transition, and the news is on the cover of every tabloid in America.
Many have praised Jenner for his bravery in dealing with the amount of attention he's received in recent weeks, but some members of the transgender community believe Bruce should be ashamed of himself for what they see as an opportunistic cash grab.
Noted journalist and helicopter pilot Zoey Tur completed her own transition last year, and she's speaking out against Bruce, claiming that he's using his transition to boost his career.
"We need out role models, and there's no greater role model than the world's greatest athlete," Tur tells TMZ Live.
"Many feel that Jenner is pitching a reality show and using this build-up to gain more momentum and getting paid to do an interview, and they don't like it...This is not about selling TV shows. This is about saving lives."
Sources say Jenner has brushed off the criticism, telling friends that the transitioning process is not "one size fits all," and Tur has no right to criticize his chosen method of sharing his news with the world.
The insiders say that part of the reason Bruce waited until so late in his life to go public is that he wanted to be sure all of his children would be old enough to understand his decision and cope with any criticism they might face.
"He's still going through the motions and wants to take his time to help his youngest daughters cope," says one source. "It's not about a TV show or announcement."
